Goodbye Beauregarde. Hello Biddie & Melvin.
`
Beauregarde was the royal blue Betta fish I received from one of my friends for my birthday. He is now resting in our septic tank.
Beauregarde was doomed from the beginning. He first survived, what I imagine for a fish to be, a strenuous trip from another town. Then when I unwrapped the box where he was concealed my older sister decided it would be a lovely idea to get a picture of him. Unfortunately the flash was so bright and right in Beau's eyes.. I think that caused some major brain damage. Then he wouldn't eat.. then last night after I finished cleaning his tank and feeding him, my younger sister decided he hadn't eaten enough and dumped about two week's worth of food in his habitat. How kind.
Anyway, I decided to replace him with a few fish that might last longer. I went to the pet store with one of my best friends and chose two goldfish - one white, one orange - named Biddie and Melvin, respectively. They're adjusting well and have quite large appetites. Now, supposing I don't take them on any road trips, flash camera lights in their eyes or dump excessive amounts of food in their bowl, they should last longer than Beauregarde.

Ah, yes. Fish, like men, are easily disposed of. And entirely replaceable. :0) Until you find a keeper, that is.
haha! What a great metaphor; I'll keep that in mind ;)
